TRASH IS MADE FROM OLD GARMENTS AND LEFTOVERS
They mean 17% of clothing production. But they aren’t trash, they’re a valuable material to create new clothes. We chop them into tiny pieces.
CLASSIFYING THE RECYCLABLE PIECES
Fundació Maresme, a non-profit Foundation which employs people with disabilities, sorts the recyclable pieces of the used garments.
STRIPPING AND SHREDDING
The sorted pieces are shed into smaller particles to obtain a very short fiber that breaks easily.
SPINNING THE FIBERS TO CREATE NEW YARN
To make the weak fiber stronger, we spin them together with sustainable fibers such as Tencel, new organic cotton or recycled PET to create new yarn.
KNITTING THE YARN
The yarn is now strong enough to knit and develop high quality fabrics.
DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE
The fabric is ready to become a new tee, sweater, boxer, dress, whatever. There are no limits and the result is great.
LESS USE OF DYES & NATURAL RESOURCES
By using recycled materials, Trash needs 80% less water than a conventional collection, plus needs fewer dyes as it is made with old garments of different colors.
