Who is Luis Raich and what he does?
I’m curious and enthusiastic. I feel lucky because I found in the architecture the perfect way to express mi personality, my way of living. My passion is driven by the desire to capture the needs of the people and propose them different ways to live. It’s a pleasure to see its ‘dreams’ come to life. Every design don’t comes to an end with the last stone, it finishes when someone starts to enjoying the space.
Can you tell us a little bit about the story behind your passion with architecture? How did it all start?
I always felt attracted by the spaces, the volumes, the lights and the touch of the materials. I studied Architecture in UPC, in Barcelona, and before I finish it I though I still had a long way to go and learn. I was in Chile for a year, in e[ad] school of architecture in Valparaíso to get back in touch with the creative part of the discipline I’d been missing in Barcelona. There, I fell in love once again with the profession. Sculptors, poets and architects showed me the architecture essence and it’s creative and artistic way. I also had the opportunity to get to know a landscape that fascinated me, where the nature is at its maximum magnificence, the Patagonia.
What is SLOW NATURE SUITES and how it born? What do you think is the recipe for success of your projects?
SNS has grown thanks to my initiative to find new clients, without waiting them to find us. We focus our business on people who wants to live in the nature, in a sustainable way and with an affordable price. We also focus on the tourist sector that wants to offer innovative and green products. We offer versatility to respond, with the 17 different types of Suites, to the needs our clients can have. From a Mini Suite with one room with bathroom to a Home Suite with bedroom, kitchen, living room, bathroom and terrace, to make you feel at home.
Different functional modules compose every Suite, and every module has a particular way to bind together the nature and the environment with the host. When you go to sleep, a window in the ceiling allows you to see the stars. Also in the bathroom you will be able to take a shower enjoying the landscape. Our aim is to propose a different experience with the nature in every module of the Suite.
What important lessons have you learned from your experience with architecture discipline?
The hand writes what it feels and the head judges it. You just have to understand yourself and listen the others to offer an architecture that the people appreciate.
I become a self-employed in times of crisis. We came from troubled times in architecture world. We must once again gain the trust of the society. I think that the sincerity, the empathy and the dialogue to explain our work are basic points also included in the discipline.
Any tips for those entrepreneurs who are daring to innovate and create in times like these?
In times of crisis we have time to think. We must take advantage of it and take a risk to achieve our objectives. We must believe in our ideas, join efforts and be around people with good advices. Put passion in every new line we trace and take the time that deserves it. Living slowly. This is the credo of SNS.
To finish, what is People for the Future for you?
They’re young-minded, courageous, committed and enthusiastic people who are characterized for innovating from the return to the origins. A large dose of attitude, enthusiasm, creativity and dedication.
Someone said that the film ‘Her’ has the great virtue of explain us a closely future. In contrast to “2001: A Space Odissey”, that whisks us to a far future, that we’ve already overtake and that don’t coincide with the reality. The future is around the corner and we build it with every step we take in the present.
